Something else?
Every trade in a renovation. One studio.
Marcin Zawila has run complete home renovations across Dublin and Leinster for twenty years. Bathrooms, extensions, joinery and retrofit. All in-house, all signed off by the same hand.
Continuing the craft
Twenty years of practice, and still in the classroom.
Marcin believes good workmanship never stands still. Alongside more than twenty years of hands-on experience, he continues to invest in modern building methods, energy efficiency, and retrofit construction through ongoing professional training across Ireland.
He holds certification from Engineers Ireland in Retrofitting and Energy Efficiency, and has completed advanced retrofit skills training at Mount Lucas National Construction Training Campus, including:
- Internal insulation
- Attic insulation
- Floor insulation
- External wall insulation (EWI)
- Airtightness and ventilation
- ICF — Insulated Concrete Form systems
Marcin is also a certified Baumit installer, having completed specialist EWI system training through Chadwicks Training Academy.
Traditional craftsmanship combined with modern building science allows MZ Carpentry & Construction to deliver homes that are not only beautifully finished, but warmer, healthier, and built for long-term performance.

Featured Project. Dublin.
An entrance hallway, in marble and light.
Large-format Calacatta-look panels run wall to door, separated by hairline channels of inset LED that wash the marble veining at night. Underfoot, a herringbone parquet sets a quieter rhythm. Every panel, every shadow gap, every reveal — set out and signed off on site.

How We Work
Four stages. No surprises.
Consultation
We visit your home, listen carefully to what you want to achieve, and give you an honest appraisal of what's possible. No hard sell. No vague promises.
Design & Quote
We produce detailed drawings and a fixed price quotation. You know exactly what you're getting and exactly what it costs before a single tool is picked up.
Build
Marcin and his trusted team carry out all works to schedule. You'll have a dedicated point of contact throughout, and any decisions are made with you, not without you.
Handover
We walk through every element with you, address any snags on the spot, and leave your home clean, complete, and exactly as agreed.
In Their Words
“Marcin is a really talented carpenter who made our radiator cover and garden roof. The quality of his work is great, he is always on time, polite, meeting deadlines and he has a great character. He is also highly responsible and considering all aspects of health and safety of a proposed design. I highly recommend his work!”
Iva, Kiltipper

The Craftsman
Marcin Zawila. Twenty years on the tools.
Marcin learned the craft the old-fashioned way: at his father's side, then on Irish sites for more than twenty years. The lesson stuck — that the materials you choose and the time you take are the only things that separate ordinary work from work that lasts. He settled in Dublin in the early 2000s, built a reputation one project at a time, and has never once outsourced his attention.
Today, MZ Carpentry & Construction takes on full home renovations across Dublin and Leinster. The philosophy hasn't shifted. Every project passes through Marcin's hands. He measures. He specifies. He signs off. Clients don't deal with a project manager they've never met; they deal with the man doing the work.
Frequently Asked
Common questions about renovating with MZ Carpentry & Construction.
We take on home renovations across Dublin and Leinster. Our most active areas are south Dublin (Sandyford, Dundrum, Ranelagh, Rathfarnham, Stillorgan, Blackrock, Foxrock, Mount Merrion, Dublin 4, Dublin 6), the northside (Clontarf, Malahide, Castleknock), west Dublin (Lucan), and further into Leinster (Maynooth, Naas, Greystones and surrounding areas).
Yes. Carpentry, plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating are all run by our own team or trusted long-term subcontractors managed under Marcin’s direct supervision. You deal with one studio for the whole renovation.
It depends on scope. A single bathroom refit runs 3 to 5 weeks. An attic conversion runs 8 to 12 weeks. A full single-storey extension runs 12 to 18 weeks. A whole-house renovation runs 4 to 8 months. We give a written schedule with the quote and update it weekly during the build.
Most rear extensions under 40 sqm and most internal renovations fall under planning exemption, but it depends on your specific property and works. We assess planning context at first site visit and coordinate the planning application if it is needed. Properties in Architectural Conservation Areas or protected structures need additional planning consideration.
We give an indicative range at first site visit and then a written fixed-price quotation once the specification is locked in. The quote itemises materials, machining, fitting and any sub-trade work so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Yes. Public liability insurance and full registration. Electrical work is signed off under our Safe Electric registered contractor and certified on completion. Engineers Ireland certification for retrofit and energy efficiency. Baumit certified installer for external wall insulation.
Yes. We routinely act as main contractor to architects’ and designers’ drawings. You get one point of accountability on site (Marcin) and we coordinate every trade through the build.
