Home Retrofitting in Dún Laoghaire.

Dún Laoghaire · The area

Why home retrofitting in Dún Laoghaire are a familiar brief.

Dún Laoghaire's Victorian and Edwardian period stock carries solid 9-inch brick construction with original or replacement sash glazing, and the retrofit constraint is the ACA and protected-structure context: external wall insulation is almost never possible on the front elevations given conservation rules, and often constrained on side and rear elevations too. The move is internal wall insulation on external walls (carefully detailed to manage condensation risk at the wall-floor junction), attic-insulation top-up, airtightness detailing, and where possible floor insulation pulled in from below. Coastal exposure raises airtightness impact above the inland equivalent. Heat-recovery ventilation features in larger projects where ductwork can be coordinated. Modern apartments and townhouses by the East Pier carry standard cavity construction and simpler retrofit scope.

Home Retrofitting · How we run it

Home Retrofitting in Dún Laoghaire, the way it should be done.

A home retrofit is more than insulation. Done properly, it treats the house as one system: the fabric, the windows and doors, airtightness, ventilation and heating are designed together so each upgrade supports the others. Marcin holds certification from Engineers Ireland in Retrofitting and Energy Efficiency and has completed advanced retrofit skills training at Mount Lucas National Construction Training Campus.
